Mental Health Resource for Families – NAMI Basics

Community First has partnered with NAMI Greater San Antonio to offer Community First Members a free, education and support program designed specifically for parents and caregivers of youth (17 and younger) experiencing mental health symptoms or who have a diagnosed mental health condition.

NAMI Basics is an evidence‑informed program that can help strengthen family understanding, improve communication, and support treatment engagement.

Providers are encouraged to refer parents/caregivers of patients who they believe may benefit from NAMI Basics.

Program highlights:

  • Free six-week course for parents, guardians, and caregivers
  • Covers mental health conditions, communication skills, crisis prevention, treatment, school navigation, self‑care, and advocacy
  • Provides a supportive group environment led by trained facilitators
  • Eligible Community First Members may also receive a gift card reward for participation. Limitations and restrictions apply. 

Parents/caregivers of Community First Members can register for NAMI Basics online at CommunityFirstHealthPlans.com/NAMI-Basics-Education-Program-Form. The next session begins March 19, 2026.
