After nearly 40 years of operation on San Antonio’s South Side, Texas Vista Medical Center, formerly known as Southwest General Hospital, is closing its doors on May 1, 2023. Community First Health Plans understands that this closure may cause gaps in our Members’ health care, especially for those who live in Southwest Bexar County.

  • If you need health care services in southwest Bexar County, please call your primary care provider first. Your PCP’s name and phone number are printed on your Community First Member ID card.
  • If you don’t know where to go for care, call our 24/7 Nurse Advice Line at 1-800-434-2347 to speak with a registered nurse who can help.

NEW HOSPITAL COMING SOON! University Health is building a new South Side hospital to serve area residents near Texas A&M-San Antonio University. It is expected to open in 2027.
